NEW CARLISLE - Fresh off their fourth ORWBL World Series title in franchise history, the New Carlisle Newts will have a new manager at the helm for the 2025 league season.
Tyler Shupert has been tapped to lead the Newts during ORWBL play.
After being named the American League’s Most Valuable Player in 2022 with Wiffle Dees, Shupert was picked up by the Newts in 2023.
Prior to finding a stable home in Migleyville, the former journeyman played with five different teams in the first five seasons of his career.
With New Carlisle, Shupert has become the most reliable player in the lineup - appearing in 58 of the 60 regular season games over the past two years.
In 2024, he led the Newts in batting average, home runs, and RBI during the regular season.
His standout performance in the postseason earned him ORWBL World Series MVP honors. Shupert went 22 for 38 in the series with 15 home runs and 20 RBI.
Outgoing skipper Koby Keck remains in the front office as the club’s President and will continue to captain New Carlisle's tournament squads.
