NEW CARLISLE - Matt Soos threw two perfect games on Sunday afternoon, and the New Carlisle Newts (15-3) rolled the Great Lakes Godfathers, 10-0, 7-0, 10-0.
Soos, who has been on the mound for the entirety of the Newts' 12-game winning streak, has flirted with a perfection in recent weeks.
This week, he threw back-to-back perfectos and allowed just two hits in the series finale for one of the most dominant pitching performances in Migley Field history.
Despite the wind howling in, Brett Mason delivered at the plate again for New Carlisle. The phenom went 10 for 16 with five home runs and eight RBI.
Noah Shail made his season debut, also belting five long balls and driving in a team-high nine runs on the day.
ORWBL play will pause next Sunday for Father's Day, and the Newts will be back in action on Sunday, June 28 against the Union Mills Blood, Sweat, and Beers. The series is currently slated for 1pm ET at Walter Metts Field in Union Mills.
