NEW CARLISLE - The Old Republic Wiffle® Ball League (ORWBL) released its 2024 regular season schedule on Friday afternoon. The slate for the 18th season of New Carlisle Newts wiffleball opens on Sunday, April 28 and will feature 30 games.
New Carlisle will start the season on the road with a match-up against the Lynn Street Leprechauns. The Newts will then travel to Mishawaka on May 5 before taking a week off for Mother's Day.
The defending National League champions will return home on May 19 to face the Great Lakes Godfathers to begin a 12-game homestand. New Carlisle will host Granger, Hudson Lake, and Twin Branch before the league breaks again for Father's Day.
Following the extended stay at home, the Newts will embark on a road-trip worthy of the name. New Carlisle's interleague opponents - the top two teams in the American League from a season ago - range over 60 miles apart, with a June 23 series in Elkhart and trip to Mill Pond a week later. The nine-game trip ends on July 7 at The Marsh against familiar opponent Glen Lee.
After sitting vacant for over a month in the heart of the summer, the friendly confines will host the Newts and County Line Knights on July 14 in a rematch of the 2023 NLCS.
The 2024 ORWBL Postseason is scheduled to begin July 21.
