Newts win division, clinch homefield through NLCS

NEW CARLISLE - For the first time since 2017, the New Carlisle Newts are division champions.

The Newts needed just one win on Sunday afternoon to lock up the top spot in the National League, but they got two - winning the series against the Olive Township Mechanics, 11-8, 7-12, 5-3.

New Carlisle finishes the regular season with a 25-5, the best mark for the franchise since 2014.

The Old Republic Wiffle®Ball League will break next weekend for The Wiffle®Ball Championship at Hometown Days. The ORWBL Postseason will begin on Sunday, August 2. The Newts will have homefield advantage through the National League playoffs.
