Newts swept in Migley opener

Updated: May 26

NEW CARLISLE - On a day in which they received their 2024 ORWBL World Series Champions rings, the New Carlisle Newts (1-5) looked the furthest thing from the class of the Old Republic Wiffle®Ball League on Sunday afternoon at Migley Field.

The festivities began with Grace Curless hoisting the newest championship flag beyond the centerfield fence, but ended with an easy sweep by the Granger Panthers, 2-0, 7-2, 8-1.

Noah Shail went 4 for 10 on the series for the Newts to lead the home team. Shail and Tyler Shupert each hit a home run - the only offense New Carlisle could muster.

Brandon Campbell's three home runs highlighted the day for the visitors.

New Carlisle heads out for a month-long road-trip, starting with next Sunday's clash with the Flat Rock Cyclones at The Barnyard. The Newts will not return home to Migley until June 22.
