Newts keep sweeping!

NEW CARLISLE - The New Carlisle Newts (21-3) continued their winning ways on Sunday afternoon at Migley Field, sweeping the Granger Panthers, 6-3, 6-1, 7-1.

It was the Newts sixth consecutive sweep, and their 18th straight win.

Matt Soos earned two of the victories on the mound before handing the ball over to his brother, Scott, who got the win in the finale.

Tyler Shupert provided most of the firepower for the Newts offense, hitting five home runs in the series despite the wind blowing straight in from centerfield.

DJ Hill made an impressive season debut, going seven for 12 at the plate for New Carlisle.

The sweep evened up the all-time ORWBL series between the two rivals at 22-22.

Next weekend will a busy one at Wiffle®Ball's Friendly Confines. On Saturday, the league will gather for the 20th annual ORWBL All-Star Game. The following day, Newts will be back in action against the Hudson Lake Heat at 1pm ET.
