Newts drop opener, bounce back to beat Heat

NEW CARLISLE - The New Carlisle Newts (10-11) got off to a slow start on Sunday afternoon at PBR Field, dropping the series opener against the Hudson Lake Heat, 8-5.
Fortunately, the bats warmed up the rest of the day, as New Carlisle cruised in the next two games, 18-12, and 25-7, to win the series.
Garrett Curless led the way for the Newts with 12 home runs and 17 RBI at the plate. Curless also started all three games on the mound, picking up the two victories to improve his pitching record to 5-3.
New Carlisle returns home to Migley Field next Sunday, July 6 to face the County Line Knights at 1:20pm ET.
