Updated: Aug 12

NEW CARLISLE - The New Carlisle Newts (18-12) closed out regular season action on Sunday afternoon with a series victory over the Lynn Street Leprechauns, 9-8, 7-11, 7-5.

Garrett Curless was the hero in the opener, blasting a walk-off home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. After dropping the second game, the Newts bounced back to take the rubber match. JP Kehoe earned both wins on the mound.

After a 2-7 start to the season, the Newts pulled off a remarkable turnaround to climb back up to third place in the National League standings. The ORWBL playoffs will begin on Sunday, August 6.

For now, New Carlisle's team will turn their attention to the biggest weekend of the year. Kehoe and Curless, along with Koby Keck, Tyler Shupert, and Joey Schuster, will lead the charge for the hometown squad in The Wiffle®Ball Championship at Hometown Days.
