NEW CARLISLE - A big crowd gathered at Migley Field on Sunday afternoon to wrap up the holiday weekend. They were treated to a daytime fireworks show - the bats of the County Line Knights (12-12).
The New Carlisle Newts (11-13) dropped two of three to the Knights, 3-25, 14-25, 13-12 (F/7).
The Soos brothers led the way for New Carlisle. Scott went 12 for 19 at the plate with 10 home runs in the series. Matt, nursing a leg injury from the Glen Lee series, still managed to go 7 for 13 with 7 home runs in two games.
Tyler Shupert played hero for the Newts in the finale, hitting a walk-off home run in the seventh inning to give the hometown fans something to cheer about.
The Newts will wrap up the 2025 regular season next Sunday, July 13 against the first-place Olive Township Mechanics (18-6). First pitch is slated for 1:20pm ET at Migley Field.
