UNION MILLS - The New Carlisle Newts once again had to leave their backyard and hometown to play a road series on Sunday afternoon, and it did not go well. The Mill Pond Pink Pandas swept the Newts, 6-4, 4-3, 14-2, at Walter Metts Field.
Garrett Curless and Tyler Shupert each homered twice for the Newts in the series, which was competitive for the first two games before all hell broke loose.
Matt Soos, Scott Soos, Sean Touhey, and Koby Keck all were able to go yard once each.
Matt Soos took the losses on the mound in games one and three. Despite allowing 15 runs in the series, the Newts ace still holds a 1.92 ERA for the season. Curless was the pitcher of record for New Carlisle in the second game.
New Carlisle has dropped eight of their last nine games, and now sits at 13-11 on the season. The Newts will hit the road one more time next week, as they travel to The Marsh to face the Glen Lee Skeeters on Sunday, July 7.
