NEW CARLISLE - The Old Republic Wiffle®Ball League (ORWBL) announced its 2022 regular season schedule on Monday evening. The 16th season of ORWBL and the New Carlisle Newts will begin on Sunday, May 1.
New Carlisle will open the campaign with a trip to Rose Park to take on the Mishawaka Meatspins. The teams met at Rose Park last season, with the Newts taking two of three.
After a week off to observe Mother's Day, the Newts will play another road series against the Twin Branch Billy Goats on May 15. The Goats are returning to the National League in 2022, after spending three seasons in the American League.
The home opener at Migley Field is scheduled for May 22 against the team that eliminated the Newts from the postseason in 2021, the Glen Lee Skeeters. The series will kick-off a 12-game homestand which will feature visits from the Warren Desperados (May 29), Hudson Lake Heat (June 5), and Bourissa Hills Wildcards (June 12). All series in the homestand are slated for the traditional 1:20pm ET start time.
New Carlisle will spend the next nine games on the road with trips to Lynn Street (June 19), Scottsdale (June 26), and Granger (July 3). All road games are expected to start at 1:00pm ET.
The Newts will close the regular season at home on Friday, July 8 with a night series against the Kingsbury Knights.
Dates for the ORWBL All-Star Game and Postseason have not be released yet.
