La PORTE - Two walk-off hits propelled the Maple City Magic to a three-game sweep of the New Carlisle Newts on Sunday afternoon at Kesling Park. The Magic won 23-22, 18-8, and 15-14.
It was the first time that New Carlisle was swept in a three-game set since 2013, when the Magic blew the Newts out under the lights at Migley Field. The Newts would get their revenge in that year's World Series and had previously won 11 straight against the Magic up until today.
New Carlisle fielded only four players, making things incredibly difficult defensively at the spacious Magic Park.
The Newts dropped to 8-7 on the year heading into the All-Star break.
