NEW CARLISLE - The friendly confines of Migley Field opened up for the 2015 season on Sunday, with the Newts (4-0) defeating arch-rival Rolling Prairie (0-1), 12-7.
Prior to the game, Newts players received their 2014 World Series championship rings, and the latest banner was unveiled. A crowd of 31 filled the ballpark, as wiffleball finally returned to Migleyville after the long offseason.
With the wind blowing out, Noah Shail and Garrett Curless each hit three home runs for the Newts. Curless was also able to keep the Emery's Army lineup in check, picking up the win on the mound.
The game marked the return of Matt Serge to Migley Field. Serge spent the past two seasons in New Carlisle as the Newts ace. The four-time ORWBL champion signed with Emery's Army in the offseason.
New Carlisle's victory evened the overall series between the two teams at 22 games a piece.
